The number of centres in Kathmandu Valley where consumers can exchange LPG gas cylinders of any company has been increased from 6 to 11. The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association said the additional centres came into operation from Monday.

The arrangement, started on Sunday to make things easier for consumers during Dashain, has been implemented in coordination with the Nepal Oil Corporation and the Federation of Gas Dealers.

The newly added centres are Bhanu Gas in Chapali, Budhanilkantha; Nepal and HP Gas in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur; Geeta Gas in Kalanki; Sitashree Gas in Khasibazar; and Shreemaya Gas in Satungal. Exchanges have already been taking place in front of the Balaju Industrial Area gate, and at Pepsicola, Siphal Chaur, Sukedhara, Kalanki and Harisiddhi.

Consumers can exchange cylinders at the designated centres every day from 11am to 4:30pm. According to the association, the facility will be available until Asoj 30. No extra charge is required to swap a cylinder of a different company.

Crowds have gathered at the centres. At Siphal, consumers were in line from as early as 4-5am on Monday. About 500 cylinders were lined up there, and distribution began only after noon once the truck carrying cylinders arrived.
