Health worsens for fasting Dr Govinda KC, being airlifted to Kathmandu

Senior physician Prof Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a fast-unto-death at the Narayansthan Temple premises in Ilam demanding reforms to medical education and the health sector, is being brought to Kathmandu after his health condition worsened further.
According to Ilam Hospital, an army helicopter is on its way to Ilam to pick up Dr KC. A helicopter has already taken off from Kathmandu to bring him to the capital for further treatment.
As the health of Dr KC, who has been fasting for five days, has turned serious, the doctors' association has demanded immediate steps be taken to save his life.
Dr Tosima Karki, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former state minister for health, has also expressed concern over Dr KC's fast and urged the government to hold talks with him immediately. She said it was not a good sign that Dr KC has had to go on a fast twice within six months.
