Homestays becoming the backbone of rural tourism in Gulmi

Homestays run in rural settlements of Gulmi have increasingly become a favorite among tourists in recent times. Across various local units of the district, homestays have been operated by combining food cooked from village-grown produce with warm hospitality for guests.
Traditional lentil dishes, buckwheat sel roti, nettle greens, meat dishes made from local breeds, roasted corn, Timur pickle, bamboo-shoot gundruk, buttermilk and organic vegetables have become the main dishes served to guests. Visitor traffic has grown because guests can enjoy local flavors while experiencing the authentic village lifestyle up close.
Among the homestays regularly operating in the district is the Ranibanh Community Homestay at Bharse, Satyawati Rural Municipality-8, where local dishes along with cultural entertainment are drawing tourists. The Dhuwankhola Homestay at Bhurtung, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-7, and the Resunga Homestay at Bhangari, Resunga Municipality-13, are also running regularly. At both these homestays, traditional cultural performances alongside local food have become the main attraction for guests.
