Sale of Indian Priyagold biscuits halted after cattle feed found in product

The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has directed that the sale and distribution of Priyagold biscuits, manufactured by the Indian company Surya Food and Agro Limited, be halted in Nepal.
The department made the decision after cattle feed (bran) was found to have been used in the biscuits. The serious violation of food safety standards came to light after a consumer complaint was filed in India.
The department has instructed all authorized importers and food businesses in Nepal to immediately stop the sale and distribution of Priyagold biscuits currently in the market. The directive applies to all batches and biscuits of any production date.
The department has also instructed that biscuits already in the market be recalled and that records of the recall be maintained.
