PNO demands identity cards for Nepali-origin people born abroad

People of Nepali Origin (PNO) has demanded that the Nepal government arrange an identity card or recognition certificate to give formal identity to people of Nepali origin born abroad.

PNO chairman Kumar Karki handed over a letter on the matter to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle during the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting ran from October 11 to 18.

Lawmaker Arjun Bahadur Karki and Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli were also present when the letter was handed over. The meeting discussed the identity, rights and ties with Nepal of people of Nepali origin living abroad.
