According to officials, about 17 billion rupees have been collected in the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund following the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods. However, only around 1 billion rupees of that amount has so far been disbursed to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Concern is growing over how such a large sum is being used and whether relief is actually reaching victims, with questions also being raised about transparency in spending and distribution.

Authority chief executive Dharmaraj Uprety, however, said there is no reason to doubt that the fund's money is being properly used. He said details of how much has been spent and where will be made public regularly, just as details of how much has been collected are disclosed.
