Four suspension bridges hit by Tanahu hydropower reservoir to be rebuilt

Four suspension bridges that will be affected by the reservoir of the 140-MW Tanahu Hydropower Project, currently under construction, are to be rebuilt.
A contract agreement for the work has already been signed between Tanahu Hydropower Limited and Kathmandu-based Thani Kali Joshi Joint Venture. Project chief Shyamji Bhandari said the agreement amount, excluding tax, is about 160 million rupees.
According to him, suitable sites for the bridges have been selected after consultation with local residents. The new bridges will be built at Chulesi, Tunibote, Dabwang and Tutuwa.
Bhandari said the equipment and materials needed for construction have already been supplied. Since the old bridges will be affected by the reservoir, the new ones are being built at new locations to make it easier for local residents to travel.
