Contract awarded to widen Chakrapath's Chappal Karkhana-Dhobikhola stretch to 8 lanes

Under the expansion of Kathmandu's Chakrapath (Ring Road), a contract has been awarded to widen about 1.03 km of road from Chappal Karkhana to near the Dhobikhola bridge to eight lanes.
The Road Division, Kathmandu has selected Shanti-Sushan JV for the work. Excluding VAT and price adjustment, the company won the contract for about 401.8 million rupees.
Sixteen companies submitted proposals when the contract was invited in the last week of Shrawan. After 10 companies were shortlisted in the technical evaluation, the final decision was made based on financial proposals.
The construction agreement, however, has yet to be signed. According to division engineer Sajit Sharma, the agreement process will now move forward, with the goal of completing the work within 18 months of signing.
