Bus stranded in flooded Nawa Khola on Tamor corridor, all 30 passengers rescued safely

A passenger bus traveling from Taplejung to Kathmandu got stranded in floodwaters on Friday afternoon. The bus got stuck at Nawa Khola, in the border area between Panchthar and Dhankuta districts along the Tamor corridor.

The bus was trapped after continuous rain increased the water flow in the stream. All 30 passengers aboard the bus have been rescued safely.

With the rise in water flow at Nawa Khola, the road under the Tamor corridor has also been blocked. Since a bridge over the stream has yet to be built at this location, vehicles have previously had to cross through the stream itself.

Continuous rainfall has raised the water level in the stream, disrupting vehicle movement on this stretch of road.
