Former prime minister and CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli has said priority must be given to rehabilitating people affected by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.

He expressed this view while speaking at a programme in Thulogaun, Pipaltar, Bidur Municipality-5, Nuwakot, to hand over keys to temporary shelters.

These shelters, built on the initiative of the Nepal Trade Union Federation (GEFONT), were handed over to families who came to Nuwakot from Rasuwa in search of safe housing. GEFONT has built around 18 temporary shelters here.

Chair Oli said reconstruction work must move forward while normalising the lives of flood victims. He said attention must be paid to arranging temporary shelter and livelihoods for those affected, as well as making it easier for them to find employment and run businesses.

GEFONT said the structures were built targeting families who had been unable to find a place for safe housing.
