Jantar Mantar has been removed from the list of designated sites for protests and sit-ins in India's capital, New Delhi. According to a notice issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar on Monday, the decision was made on the recommendation of a committee formed by the Union Home Ministry.

Protests will now be directed to Ramlila Maidan, Burari Maidan and the CBD Ground in east Delhi. The notice said a separate standard operating procedure for demonstrations at these sites would be issued.

The decision comes amid an ongoing agitation in Delhi against the revision of the voter list. Opposition parties, student groups and rights activists have been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to media reports, more than 130 million names have been removed from the list during the revision.

Critics say this benefits the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and could affect the Muslim community. The Election Commission has rejected the allegations, saying the revision was carried out to remove duplicate and fake entries.

After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called on supporters to march toward the Supreme Court, police shut six metro stations on Monday and blocked major roads. Thousands of security personnel have been deployed in central Delhi for a third consecutive day. Opposition leaders and journalists have accused police of mistreating lawmakers, journalists and protesters.
