Work on Sanga–Dhulikhel road widening gathers pace

Work on widening the Sanga–Dhulikhel section of the Araniko Highway in Kavrepalanchok has been accelerated.
The Suryabinayak–Dhulikhel project says construction has been sped up to complete the main work within the additional one-year deadline, since it appears the entire project cannot be finished in that time.
Over the past few days, drainage management work and removal of the old blacktopping to lay a new surface have begun in Banepa bazaar.
The roughly 16-kilometer stretch from Suryabinayak in Bhaktapur to Dhulikhel was divided into two sections and contracted out to be widened into six lanes. The eight-kilometer Sanga–Dhulikhel section was awarded to Lama Construction at a cost of about Rs 4.06 billion.
The contract, signed on Mangsir 27, 2079, was supposed to be completed by Mangsir 25, 2082. After only 60 percent of the work was done within the stipulated period, the contractor was given an additional one-year extension.
