Ministry writes to enroll government hospital staff in health insurance

The Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene has written to government bodies asking them to enroll civil servants working there in the health insurance program.

The ministry has asked departments, government hospitals, health science academies and other federal bodies to take the necessary steps to cover their staff under insurance. A separate letter has also been sent to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The letter requests cooperation through correspondence, coordination and facilitation to bring staff ranging from ministries, secretariats and commissions of the Government of Nepal down to the provincial and local levels into the program.

The ministry said the initiative has been taken to enroll staff as per provisions in the Health Insurance Act and Regulations, with the aim of expanding insurance access among government employees and making the program more systematic.
