Budhigandaki above danger level: high risk up to Mugling, residents of 6 districts urged to stay alert

The water level of the Budhigandaki river has crossed the danger mark at the river gauging station in Arughat, Gorkha. Following this, riverside residents in Gorkha and five other districts have been urged to stay alert. The Budhigandaki river joins the Trishuli at Siuranitar.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division, there is high risk up to Mugling. The division has also asked residents around Chitwan and Nawalparasi to remain alert. According to senior hydrologist Binod Parajuli of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the flood is moving downstream in three phases. The second-phase flood has crossed the danger level at Arughat. Residents have been urged to stay alert until evening.
Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has urged residents of Sirdibas, Jagat, Sallery, Kholbesi, Machhakhola, Soti, Arkhet and Arughat areas to move to safe places immediately and remain alert. He said helicopters have already been mobilized for rescue.
Meanwhile, the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has been activated. People have been asked to contact 1115 if they need health assistance.
