A major flood hit Gorkha's Budhigandaki river on Sunday morning. The flood swept away four bridges in various parts of Gorkha, including the concrete motorable bridge connecting Arughat and Dhading. With the bridge gone, the link between Gorkha and Dhading has been cut.

Of the three sections of the concrete bridge, one section on the Gorkha side has been swept away. The Area Police Office, Arughat, has also confirmed that the bridge was swept away.

The large flood, carrying mud and debris, was triggered after a snow avalanche occurred in the Himalayan region of northern Gorkha. The flood pushed the river's water level well above the danger mark.

Seeing the flood risk, Arughat market has been evacuated, and residents there have been moved to safer locations.
