Proposed ambassador to Japan Jigyan Kumar Thapa withdraws his name

Jigyan Kumar Thapa, Nepal's proposed ambassador to Japan, has withdrawn his name from the parliamentary hearing and appointment process. He informed the parliamentary hearing committee of the withdrawal through a letter.
At a meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee held at Singha Durbar on Monday, committee chairman Bodhnarayan Shrestha informed members that Thapa had withdrawn his name. According to Chairman Shrestha, Thapa had said he would withdraw his name and would send a written application to that effect.
During the hearing, committee members had raised questions about the fact that Thapa's family are permanent residents of Japan and hold Japanese permanent residency (PR).
In the letter withdrawing his name, Thapa wrote that holding a position is not the only means of serving the public.
