Congress submits new central committee details to Election Commission; Thapa: 'not in the habit of being scared'

Nepali Congress on Monday submitted to the Election Commission the details of its new Central Working Committee elected at the 15th general convention, for updating of records.
A team led by General Secretary Pradeep Paudel, which went to the commission, handed over the details to Commission Secretary Krishna Prasad Kapri in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Man Bahadur Karki.
Details with photographs of the office-bearers and central members of the new committee led by President Gagan Kumar Thapa were submitted to the commission.
Along with that, details of the constitutional amendments, and the political document and decisions passed by the convention were also submitted.
Under Section 51 of the Political Parties Act, 2073 BS, the commission must be informed whenever there is a change in the central committee.
The convention was held in Kathmandu from Asoj 18 to 23.
The special convention held in the last week of Poush had also elected Thapa as president.
General Secretary Paudel claimed the convention was held in accordance with procedure and law, noting that two conventions have now been held within eight months.
Meanwhile, President Thapa, at exactly 6 pm on Monday evening, posted a short status on Facebook: 'Many came to scare me, but I'm not in the habit of being scared.'
Thapa's remark came after Prime Minister Balen Shah posted a warning-toned status on Sunday saying, 'One or two people shouldn't dream of getting away.'
Thapa, who usually posts long statuses and video messages, chose a short style this time.
In the status, he did not name the Prime Minister.
