President Ramchandra Paudel has said Nepal wants to work together with Switzerland to address the effects of climate change and problems in the Himalayan environment.

The President expressed this view during a courtesy meeting at Shital Niwas on Monday with a delegation led by Pierre-André Page, president of the Swiss National Council, who is visiting Nepal.

According to the President's press adviser Kiran Pokhrel, President Paudel praised the support the Swiss government has given to Nepal's peace process.

He also recalled Switzerland's long-standing support for democracy, federalism, local governance and socio-economic development.

President Page noted that the Himalayas are constantly changing, raised the issue of early-warning systems, and emphasized cooperation with Nepal.

President Page is leading a six-member parliamentary delegation visiting Nepal at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The delegation also met the Speaker and National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal.

Chairman Dahal informed the delegation that the two countries are marking the 70th year of diplomatic relations and that a Nepal-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group has been formed.

The meetings discussed Nepal's post-disaster reconstruction and parliamentary relations, the Federal Parliament Secretariat said.

The Speaker and President Page jointly inaugurated a photo exhibition at the Patan Museum.

According to the visit schedule, the delegation has a program with the Nepal-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group on Kartik 20.
