Air India flight diverted to Jaipur after hijack alert, all passengers safe

An Air India flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Delhi was safely landed in Jaipur, India on Wednesday after a hijack alert was triggered.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft operating flight AI 2030 had taken off around 10:45 pm the previous night. While airborne, the pilot transmitted the 'squawk 7500' code, which signals a hijacking or unlawful interference.
After air traffic control and authorities in Ahmedabad received the emergency alert around 9:05 am, the flight was diverted toward Jaipur. According to Jaipur airport director Charan Singh, the plane landed around 9:35 am.
About 306 passengers were on board, and all are safe. After landing, the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay for inspection. The Central Industrial Security Force, local police and a bomb disposal team examined the plane and passengers' luggage.
Senior officials, including an additional director general of Rajasthan Police, also reached the airport. Initial information suggests the signal may have been triggered accidentally by the pilot, though this has not been officially confirmed. An investigation into the security alert is underway. Passengers are being sent on to their respective destinations as per standard procedure.
