Opposition grows to proposal to cut migrant workers in Australia

The Australian Hotels Association has released a satirical advertisement opposing proposals from major political parties to reduce migrant workers in Australia.
The ad comes as the Labor Party, the Liberal-National Coalition, and the One Nation party have all put forward policies to cut immigration. Their policies would reduce migrant numbers by close to 750,000 in the coming years.
The advertisement humorously depicts an imagined scenario after a man presses a large red button labeled 'Run Australia without migrant workers.' After the button is pressed, it shows cafe and pub staff walking off the job.
The association said the advertisement was designed to draw attention to the impact that cutting migrant workers would have on the economy and daily life. According to the association's chief executive Stephen Ferguson, hospitals, aged care, abattoirs, fruit picking and the hospitality sector all depend on migrant workers.
