Taplejung football winners to get cardamom instead of cash prize

The winning and runner-up teams of a football tournament in Mikwakhola Rural Municipality, Taplejung, will receive large cardamom instead of cash prizes. The rural municipality will hold the tournament from Mangsir 2 to 6.
The arrangement has been made to make the Fangfangden Waterfall Tourism and Cultural Fair a success and to promote cardamom. Along with men's football, the fair organized by the Fangfangden Waterfall Tourism Development Committee will feature dance, Chyabrung competitions and other cultural programs.
At a press conference in district headquarters Phungling on Monday, committee chairman Bijay Prakash Sawa Limbu said men's football would be the fair's main attraction. Eight teams, including the local side and teams from Panchthar, Jhapa and Sunsari, among other districts, will take part.
The winning team will receive large cardamom worth about Rs 302,000.
