Rebuilding Dodhara-Chandani suspension bridge estimated to cost NPR 200 million

A preliminary estimate by a technical team puts the cost of rebuilding the historic Dodhara-Chandani suspension bridge in Kanchanpur at nearly NPR 200 million.
Traffic on the bridge over the Mahakali River has been halted since one of its pillars collapsed and other parts were also damaged in the second week of Asoj.
A team led by Deputy Director General Kamal Kumar Adhikari of the Suspension Bridge Division, which traveled from Kathmandu, has studied the damage. The team has submitted a reconstruction cost report to the local Department of Infrastructure Development, concluding that damage worth about NPR 70 million was caused.
Deputy Director General Adhikari said the work is ready to begin once the project is listed and a budget is allocated.
