Gas Dealers' Federation Nepal has welcomed Nepal Oil Corporation's directive making VAT bills mandatory for the sale of LP gas. The Corporation's LP Gas and Aviation Department sent a letter to all gas industries on Monday, Kattik 9, instructing them to put this arrangement in place.

Under the directive, industries must ensure that bills and invoices reach customers through dealers without exception. The Corporation took the step after growing complaints from consumers that they were not receiving bills after buying gas.

Federation chairman Gyaneshwar Aryal issued a statement on Wednesday calling the Corporation's directive highly welcome. He said the mandatory billing would serve as a cornerstone in making gas transactions more orderly.

The federation has urged all gas traders to issue VAT bills and consumers to insist on receiving them as well. It said it had previously suggested such measures to the Corporation to make the billing system effective. The federation called the new arrangement a positive step toward making gas transactions transparent, orderly and safe. The federation's response came two days after the Corporation's letter was issued.
