The Birgunj Customs Office collected revenue exceeding its target for the month of Asoj. The office collected about Rs 26.73 billion in Asoj against a target of about Rs 26.46 billion, exceeding the monthly target by about Rs 265.8 million.

According to Chief Customs Administrator Krishna Prasad Mainali, fuel imports alone brought in about Rs 2.29 billion in revenue. Cooking gas contributed about Rs 1.80 billion and bitumen about Rs 1.40 billion, while apple and pear imports brought in about Rs 500 million.

However, the office has not met its overall target through the end of Asoj. Against a total target of about Rs 70.56 billion, only about Rs 69.13 billion has been collected, leaving the office about Rs 1.43 billion short overall.

The Biratnagar Customs Office also reported collecting slightly more than its target in Asoj, bringing in about Rs 39.84 billion against a target of about Rs 39.07 billion. In the last fiscal year, it had collected only about 82.5 percent of its target. Both offices said revenue rose in Asoj because of goods imported for the festive season.
