The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has urged everyone not to spread baseless information circulating in the media and on social networks regarding sending Nepali workers to Malaysia.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry requested all stakeholders to share only fact-based information about employment in Malaysia. The ministry said unverified information on a sensitive issue like foreign employment could create confusion among citizens and stakeholders.

According to the ministry, diplomatic dialogue with the relevant Malaysian government bodies is continuing on this matter. The ministry clarified that the talks are being held within the bounds of the Foreign Employment Act and regulations, bilateral labor agreements, and international law.

The statement said the government favors resolving the issue soon through talks between the two countries. The ministry holds the view that a system contrary to the constitution, existing laws and labor agreements cannot safeguard workers' long-term interests.

The ministry said Nepal is positive about developing a transparent and fair worker recruitment system acceptable to both the Nepali and Malaysian governments. The statement reiterated the government's commitment to making labor migration to Malaysia organized, transparent and in the interest of both countries. However, the statement did not specify a timeline for when the matter would be resolved.
