Madhyapur Thimi municipality's chief administrative officer caught by CIAA with bribe money

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken Bhojraj Ghimire, Chief Administrative Officer of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur, into custody along with bribe money.

Acting on information that bribery transactions were taking place at the municipality, a CIAA team raided the municipal office on Monday. Chief Administrative Officer Ghimire was taken into custody with the bribe on Monday afternoon.

According to Ratopati, 3.3 million rupees in bribe money taken by Ghimire has been recovered. According to Rajdhani, other staff members were also taken into custody along with the chief administrative officer during the raid.

The commission has not said whether further investigation is being carried out in this matter; detailed information is yet to come.
