Kathmandu Metropolitan City has announced that waste management in the Valley will be affected from Kattik 1 to 4. The metropolis said waste collection across the Valley would be impacted because operations would be disrupted at Banchare Danda, the Valley's final waste disposal site.

The metropolis's Environment Management Department issued a notice stating that the Banchare Danda sanitary landfill site will be completely closed for three days starting Kattik 1. This closure falls during the Dashain period.

The metropolis has urged Valley residents not to indiscriminately dump waste generated from homes, offices and businesses on roads and in public places. "Please manage waste produced from your home, office or business within your own house or compound rather than dumping it indiscriminately on roads and public places," the metropolis's notice said.

Since waste collection will be affected during this period, the metropolis has requested citizens to safely store their waste within their own homes and compounds.
