Pokhara Metropolitan City has moved forward with a new project aimed at making the city, known for nature, culture and adventure tourism, a sustainable tourism destination. The project will connect all nine of the city's lakes with a cycle trail and road network, at an estimated cost of about Rs 1.52 billion.

According to Metropolitan chief Dhanraj Acharya, the trail will begin from the Fewa Lake area in Ward No. 6. Once the route with cycle lanes is built, tourists will be able to easily reach all the lakes by bicycle or other vehicles.

The metropolis expects that lakes and surrounding tourist areas that have so far remained overlooked will also become active. Mayor Acharya said the project will help extend tourists' stay in Pokhara by at least two more days.

He said the project's aim is to take tourists beyond Fewa Lake alone to other lakes and sightseeing spots. Pokhara has already been declared the tourism capital.
