Mauritius agrees to take Nepali workers via G2G mechanism, costs to be borne by employers

Mauritius has agreed to take workers from Nepal through a government-to-government, or G2G, mechanism, with recruitment costs to be borne by the employer, according to the secretariat of Youth, Labor and Employment Minister Ramji Yadav.
The agreement is being pursued with the aim of providing Nepali workers safer and more dignified foreign employment opportunities. Mauritius has agreed to the G2G proposal put forward by Nepal.
Mauritius's High Commission in New Delhi sent a formal letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 29, 2026, providing a revised draft memorandum of understanding. The proposed agreement aims to open jobs with good pay and benefits in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, tourism and information technology.
The draft includes provisions for a government-level recruitment mechanism and for skilled and trained workers.
