The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has made arrests over allegations of collecting more than the government-fixed fee during health check-ups of Nepali workers heading to Malaysia for foreign employment. Most reports mention four people arrested, while some reports state five were arrested.

Those arrested include Kailash Khadka of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-1 and a person from Changunarayan Municipality in Bhaktapur. Also among those arrested is the operator of an institution that handles biometrics for workers bound for Malaysia.

According to CIB spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shamsher Jabara, those arrested are being investigated on charges of fraud and organized crime.

The CIB had been investigating them on allegations of running a 'syndicate' that took large sums of money from workers going for employment in Malaysia.
