Protest continues against Ani Choeying Dolma's appointment as Lumbini fund vice-chair

Protests are continuing in the Lumbini area after the government appointed Ani Choeying Dolma as vice-chair of the Lumbini Development Fund.
Local residents and leaders from various sectors have demanded that the government revoke the decision immediately.
The Lumbini Save Mahaabhiyan (grand campaign) had scheduled a protest program today at 1 pm at Lumbini's Parsa Chowk.
According to campaign coordinator Akram Khan, a phased movement will continue until the appointment is revoked.
This campaign was also the first organization to announce a protest program against the appointment.
The Kapilvastu-Tilaurakot Struggle Committee has also expressed dissatisfaction and urged the government to reconsider the decision.
Committee member Rajkumar Yadav said the appointment has hurt sentiments and aspirations.
Some of the protesting organizations have raised questions about the vice-chair's citizenship and the legitimacy of her assets.
Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi said the decision should be viewed from the perspective of public morality, law and good governance.
In his view, the appointment should not have been made while questions about citizenship remained unresolved.
Tripathi noted that the Lumbini Development Fund is not merely an administrative post but an institution linked to the faith of Buddhists and a symbol of world peace.
