Government brings ordinance expanding Press Council's jurisdiction, influencers also brought under regulation

The government has brought an ordinance expanding the Press Council's jurisdiction.
Under the ordinance, social media accounts operated by media outlets have also been brought under the Press Council's regulation. A provision has been made for the journalists' code of conduct to apply to media outlets' social media accounts as well.
Similarly, influencers and media workers engaged in journalism-related work have also been brought under regulation. The Press Council will now also regulate those who post content on social media while calling themselves content creators or influencers.
Through the ordinance, the Press Council's regulation has been extended beyond traditional media to journalism-related content published on social media.
