Russia strikes Kyiv hours after agreeing to resume peace talks

Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, came under attack hours after Russia said it was "in principle ready" to resume peace talks with Ukraine. Reports said the attack involved missiles and drones.
The strike came just hours after US President Donald Trump urged Ukraine to agree to a deal to end the war with Russia. President Trump had said the warring sides were "closer than ever" to ending the conflict.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed in principle to resume US-mediated trilateral peace talks with Ukraine from next month. The talks are reported to resume in November.
The missile strikes on Kyiv came soon after Russia agreed to the US request to resume talks. Detailed information on the damage caused by the attack is yet to come.
