Community school once set to merge now has over 500 students

A government school in Kapilvastu that was once preparing to cut classes due to lack of students now has about 513 students.
Locals had decided about nine years ago to reduce Nepal National Basic School in Shitalapur, Shivraj Municipality-10, from grade 5 down to grade 3. At the time, the school had only about 50 students.
Kamalprasad Paudel, who took over as headmaster around that time, stopped the management committee's proposal before it was sent to the district education office. After halting the proposal, he launched a new improvement plan for the school.
At a time when government schools in rural areas are being merged one after another due to lack of students, this school has instead moved forward and is now being developed as a model school.
