The government has finally prepared a model house to temporarily shelter Bhotekoshi flood victims at Bidur Municipality-5 in Nuwakot.

According to Suman Pradhan, advisor to Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal, the model house has two rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. It has been designed to accommodate a family of five.

Pradhan said building one house is estimated to cost around Rs 600,000. He said such houses, built using reusable prefabricated modular technology, take 2 to 3 days to assemble.

Various donor agencies and development partners have decided to build houses for the victims according to this same model's standards. For this, 56 ropani of land belonging to the Nepal Electricity Authority and 6 ropani belonging to the Department of Irrigation will be used.

According to Pradhan, the process of building the temporary houses will now move forward soon.
