The Parliamentary Hearing Committee will hold hearings on Friday and Saturday for four people recommended for appointment as Supreme Court justices. The Judicial Council had recommended the names of Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chandra Bahadur Saru, Janak Pandey and Gokarna Dangi.

According to committee chairperson Bodhnarayan Shrestha, 13 complainants have filed a total of 28 complaints against the four nominees. Of these, there are 5 complaints against Bagchand, 6 against Saru, 10 against Pandey and 7 against Dangi.

Chairperson Shrestha said 5 complainants had filed complaints against all four proposed justices. The committee's meeting at Singhadurbar on Thursday approved the hearing schedule prepared by the secretariat.

Copies of the complaints were also distributed to members for review at the same meeting. According to the schedule, the committee will call the complainants from 9:30 am on Friday to discuss the validity and justification of the complaints.

The hearings for Bagchand and Saru will be held the same day. Chairperson Shrestha said the hearings for Pandey and Dangi would take place on Saturday.

Under the constitutional provision, the President appoints Supreme Court justices after their names are endorsed through a parliamentary hearing.
