Morang's Kerauan 132kV substation construction completed

The 132kV capacity Kerauan substation has been completed in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-2 of Morang. The substation was built to meet electricity demand in Morang and surrounding areas and to make supply more reliable.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has said it is preparing to charge the substation on Saturday, Kartik 14, and Sunday, Kartik 15. On those days, the Duhabi-Damak section of the east-west transmission line will be looped in and out at the substation.
According to the Authority, the line will be shut down from 4am to noon on both days for this purpose. During that period, power will be cut in all parts of Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung, as well as in Urlabari, Pathari and surrounding areas of Morang.
Three power transformers have been installed at the substation, with a total capacity of about 148.5 MVA. According to the Authority, the 33kV line currently supplying power to this area is very long, causing high technical leakage and frequent tripping for consumers. Once the new substation comes online, leakage is expected to fall and supply to become more reliable.
