Contract for Mechi corridor's Sukhani bridge, stalled for 11 years, terminated

The Road Division Office, Ilam, under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, has terminated the contract for the Sukhani concrete bridge on the Mechi corridor. The office gave this information by issuing a public notice on Tuesday (Kartik 17).

The agreement to build a motorable bridge over the Sukhani river in Ilam was signed about 14 years and 4 months ago. However, the construction contractor had completely stopped work and left the site about 11 years ago.

Along with cancelling the contract, the office has also begun the process of blacklisting the construction contractor.

This is the second long-stalled contract that the Road Division, Ilam, has ended in recent times.
