Free motorbike rides in Khotang for daughters travelling to their maternal homes

A campaign called 'Dashain-Tihar, A Gift for Daughters' has begun in Khotang, offering free motorcycle rides to women struggling financially so they can visit their maternal homes for Dashain.

Started on Tuesday, the campaign carries women from their homes to their maternal homes and back again. According to Nirajan Dhakal, head of the campaign's secretariat, more than 50 people used the service on the first day.

Thirty-five riders have volunteered for the service. Ranmaya Tamang of Khармi, Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-11, reached her maternal home in Bhojpur through the service.

Resma Rai of Kharpa Rubhung, Rawabesi Rural Municipality-2, also expressed happiness at being able to visit her maternal home for free. Rider Bhabindra Rai said he was glad to be able to serve these women.

According to campaign coordinator Sanjay Kumar Rai, the service will run until Kartik 6 for Dashain. The campaign has said the service will also be offered during Tihar.
