Electronic procurement system, halted over security risk, resumes with new version

The electronic government procurement (e-GP) system, which had been halted due to security risks, has resumed operation through a new version. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office issued a notice on Tuesday announcing that the new system had been brought into operation.
The government had shut down the old system after it was found to carry a high security risk. After the system was closed, the government had been awarding contracts through a paper-based process.
Now, the procurement and contracting processes of public bodies will run through the new version of the electronic system. According to the notice issued by the Public Procurement Monitoring Office, the new system has been put into use from today.
The electronic procurement system, which was launched with the aim of making public procurement transparent and convenient, had been shut down for some time due to security concerns, during which contracting was carried out through paper-based means.
