Prachanda proposes unity: country in crisis, let all communists including Oli unite

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called for unity among all leftist forces, including the CPN (UML). Speaking at a party event in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he proposed unity with UML chair KP Sharma Oli, saying the country is currently in an extraordinary crisis.
Prachanda urged Oli as well as Mohan Bikram Singh, Mohan Baidya 'Kiran', Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' and other remaining communist groups to set aside prejudices and unite. He said this had become an objective necessity for the country.
At the event, Prachanda also criticized the government. He alleged that impulsiveness, prejudice and authoritarian tendencies were growing in the country in place of reason, ideas and principles, and that tendencies to oppress and terrorize the public were increasing.
NCP co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal also said that all communist and socialist forces must unite to protect the communist movement, safeguard nationality and achieve the goal of socialism. He said the time had come to break through the despair seen in the global communist movement.
