16 months after agreement, construction of Achham's Gandigad bridge yet to begin

Construction of the motorable Gandigad bridge on the border between Achham and Doti districts has not progressed even 16 months after the agreement was signed. The bridge is meant to be built at Sokat in Chaurpati Rural Municipality-2, Achham.
Although the contract was signed, locals have had to suffer as the construction process has failed to move forward. Local resident Dhruv Saud said the lack of a bridge has made it difficult to take sick villagers for treatment.
Students from Achham travel to Dipayal and Silgadhi in Doti for their studies. They have been crossing at this same point, taking risks along the way.
Locals say the delay in building this bridge connecting the two districts has affected treatment, education and daily travel.
