PM Shah's India visit in preparation, but date still undecided

Preparations are underway for Prime Minister Balen Shah's visit to India, though the date has not yet been fixed. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung is in India to attend BIMSTEC's first home ministers'-level meeting.

On Tuesday, he met Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, during which the prime minister's prospective visit was also discussed. According to Acting Ambassador Surendra Thapa, both sides are making preparations, and the date will be fixed by mutual agreement.

According to sources, discussions have taken place on a proposal to begin the visit from Mangsir 7. According to another source, preparations are underway for a visit either in the last week of November or the first week of December, after the festive season.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the date will only be made public once the agenda of common interest, cooperation and agreements has been finalized. Ministry officials say a time convenient to both countries is being sought.

Dr. Nishchal Nath Pandey, recommended as ambassador to India, submitted his action plan to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Monday, which also referred to the prime minister's visit.
