On Thursday, the second day of Tika under Bada Dashain, people continued receiving Tika and Jamara as prasad of Navadurga from elders and relatives. Today is Ashwin Shukla Ekadashi, also known as Papankusha Ekadashi.

After Tika and Jamara were applied within households on the day of Vijayadashami, the practice of receiving Tika from elders and relatives continues today as well. In parts of Nepali society, there is a tradition of receiving Tika, Jamara and blessings from elders from Papankusha Ekadashi through to Kojagrat Purnima.

On Wednesday, the main day of the Durga fortnight — Vijayadashami, the central day of Bada Dashain — people received Tika, Jamara and blessings from their elders as prasad of Navadurga. The red Tika is regarded as a symbol of an auspicious moment.

According to tradition, Tika and blessings can be received from elders until Kojagrat Purnima. Therefore, the practice of visiting distant relatives and elders to receive Tika will continue in the coming days as well.
