Ilam man dies at Birtamod rehab centre, family files police complaint

A person undergoing treatment at the 'Shanti Samuha Nepal' rehabilitation centre in Birtamod Municipality-1, Jhapa, has died in suspicious circumstances. The deceased has been identified as Narbahadur Basnet of Ilam.

Basnet had been placed at the rehabilitation centre for treatment. His family has filed a police complaint alleging that his death occurred as a result of torture.

According to Deshsanchar, CCTV footage showing torture at the rehabilitation centre has surfaced, leading to demands for action against those involved in the incident.

Following the family's complaint, police are required to further investigate the case.
