A massive boulder-laden landslide that had fallen at Chumsur in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-2, on the Khandbari-Kimathanka road section in Sankhuwasabha, has been cleared using explosives.

After the landslide was cleared, one-way traffic has resumed up to the Kimathanka border point, which connects with China. According to Ram Bahadur Gurung, chief of the North-South Koshi Road Project, the Nepal Army carried out a controlled blast on Sunday to remove the boulder.

Since the boulder was too large to be removed with ordinary equipment, the project had sought the army's assistance. Gurung said the landslide was cleared through the combined efforts of the army and a technical team from the road office.

The landslide, which fell during heavy rainfall last Saun, had blocked the road, causing problems with daily movement and food transport to the northern region. With the road now open, the reopening has eased travel for festival-goers heading home, local residents, and cargo vehicles.
