Tourist arrivals in Mustang fall in first three months of this fiscal year

The number of tourists visiting Mustang has dropped significantly in the three months from Shrawan to Asoj of the current fiscal year. According to the District Police Office, Mustang, 69,403 domestic and foreign tourists visited Mustang during this period.

The same period last year saw 118,685 visitors, marking a 41.52 percent drop in tourist arrivals.

According to the office's information officer, Police Inspector Ishwar Mahat, this year 30,534 tourists arrived in Shrawan, 20,268 in Bhadra and 18,601 in Asoj. Floods in Rasuwa's Bhotekoshi on Bhadra 10 and heavy rainfall on Asoj 11 fully blocked the Beni-Jomsom road for more than two weeks.

This has been cited as the reason for the drop in tourists. During the second and third weeks of Asoj, when the road was closed, only a few tourists reached Mustang via Pokhara-Jomsom.
