Jamara sold at Kasthamandap on Vijaya Dashami, up to Rs 150 a bunch

On Vijaya Dashami, the main day of Bada Dashain, jamara was bought and sold in Kathmandu's Kasthamandap area. Crowds of buyers and sellers gathered there from early morning.
For those unable to keep jamara at home on the day of Ghatasthapana, jamara was available for purchase along with phulpati. A bunch of jamara fetched up to Rs 150.
On Vijaya Dashami, jamara is worn on the head as prasad of Navadurga Bhawani. It is customary on this day to wear jamara along with the red tika, a symbol of the auspicious moment, applied by elders.
