Demat accounts near 8.1 million as women's participation in market grows

According to the latest data from CDS and Clearing Limited (CDSC), the number of demat accounts opened in the country has reached nearly 8.1 million. About 7.2 million people have registered accounts on Mero Share, which is used for applying for IPOs and managing shares.
Of these, CDSC says about 5.1 million users are active. Of the roughly 20 billion listed share units in the stock market, most have already been converted into demat form.
As the number of investors grows, women's participation in the share market is also increasing.
