Hope of changed US policy is an illusion, says Iran's supreme leader Khamenei

Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said that hoping for a change in the United States' Iran policy is an illusion.
He expressed this view in a written statement posted on his website on Wednesday, hours after the US midterm elections concluded.
According to Khamenei, a change of party or leadership in the United States does not change its hostile behaviour toward Iran. He also said those who believe that making concessions to the US will make it abandon its hostility toward Iran are seriously mistaken.
As US and Israeli leaders keep warning of another attack on Iran, Khamenei responded that if such an attack were repeated, the scope of the war would widen.
The message came as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a resumption of the war that began on February 28.
Fuel prices in the United States have also risen sharply because of the war.
Khamenei has not appeared in public since becoming supreme leader last March and has been sharing his views only through written statements.
Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also warned on social media platform X that the US government would pay a price if it acted against the will of the people.
